1. INTRODUCTION
Find My Device - BFinder ("App", "we", "us", or "our") is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device finder and tracker-detection app. It helps you locate nearby Bluetooth devices (such as headphones or a lost item) and checks for known hidden trackers (such as AirTag, Tile, or Samsung SmartTag) near you.
By using BFinder, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the App.
2. DATA WE COLLECT
BFinder is designed to collect as little as possible.
2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect
- No Account: BFinder does not require you to sign up, log in, or provide an email address
- No Server: BFinder has no backend server. Nothing you scan, track, or save is ever transmitted off your device
- No Precise GPS Location: BFinder does not use GPS and does not know your geographic location
- No Analytics or Tracking SDKs: The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries
2.2 Information Processed Locally, On Your Device Only
- Bluetooth Scan Results: Names, signal strength (RSSI), and advertised identifiers of nearby Bluetooth devices, processed in memory only to display the list of nearby devices and estimate distance
- Saved Items: If you choose to save a device (tap the star), its name and identifier are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults), so the App can recognize it again later
- Tracker Sighting History: To flag a device as a possible unwanted tracker, the App keeps a local record of when a given device's signal was first and most recently seen, stored only on your device
None of the above ever leaves your device. There is no cloud sync, no iCloud backup of this data beyond the standard iOS app-data backup mechanism, and no external database.
2.3 Permissions the App May Request
- Bluetooth: Required for all core functionality — scanning for and connecting to nearby devices
- Camera (flashlight only): Used only to toggle your device's flashlight to help you search in dark spaces. The App does not access the camera sensor, capture photos or video, or store any image data
- Notifications: Used only to alert you locally if a device you saved goes out of range while the App is open. No notification content is sent to or generated by any server
3. HOW WE USE DATA
- Core Functionality: Detecting, listing, and tracking nearby Bluetooth devices; estimating distance from signal strength; identifying known tracker manufacturer signatures
- Nothing Else: We do not use any data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the App's stated device-finding and tracker-detection features
4. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES
- No Sale or Sharing: We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any data with third parties, because we do not collect or transmit any data off your device in the first place
- No Third-Party SDKs: The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services that would receive your data
5. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
- All data described above is stored only in the App's local storage on your device
- You can remove a saved item at any time within the App
- Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
BFinder does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal data at all. The App is not directed at children under 13.
7. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
